Many students are picked up from school by parents, guardians, or organizations. The staff and management of Lake Sybelia Elementary School work to ensure the safety of all students by assisting students to find their ride each day. Guidelines are in place to improve traffic flow in the school area during dismissal times. When picking up students a driver's adherence to these guidelines is greatly appreciated and will ultimately assist Lake Sybelia staff in helping students and drivers to arrive home more quickly and safely.
Guidelines for Student Pickup
Vehicles picking up children should have the student's name clearly displayed in the front windshield.
Drivers who are picking up students from multiple grades should arrive at the dismissal time of the student in the highest grade level. This promotes better traffic flow by allowing cars to pickup and leave immediately. Cars that remain parked in the traffic lane waiting for students who are in upper grades obstruct traffic flow.
Drivers are asked to advance their vehicle in single lane form in front of the school.
Drivers should pull as far forward as they are directed, filling any open spaces in the line. This helps to prevent excessive traffic obstruction on Sandspur Road.
Drivers
should pay attention, watch for their children, and give their children's name to the support personnel who are assisting to locate students.
Students should enter the vehicle by the passenger side to avoid stepping into traffic lanes.
Drivers should
not use cell phones while in the car line. Support personnel might need to speak with you to better assist in locating your child.
Drivers must stay in their vehicle while in the car line. Drivers may park in designated parking spaces if they wish to leave their vehicle or enter the school building.
